About Rare Dollar
Rare Dollar covers digital-asset markets: what moved, why it moved, and what the mechanism underneath it actually is. The brief is narrow on purpose. There is no shortage of crypto commentary and a persistent shortage of plain explanation.
What we cover
Coverage is organised into 10 sections:
- Bitcoin — Bitcoin news: price action, ETF flows, mining economics, protocol upgrades and the institutions moving BTC.
- Ethereum — Ethereum news: upgrades, staking, layer-2 rollups, gas markets and the applications built on ETH.
- Markets — Digital-asset market coverage: price moves, liquidity, derivatives positioning and macro spillover into crypto.
- Business — The companies behind crypto: exchanges, custodians, funding rounds, acquisitions, earnings and executive moves.
- Regulation — Crypto policy and enforcement: legislation, court rulings, licensing regimes and regulators worldwide.
- Technology — Blockchain infrastructure: protocol design, wallets, mining hardware, security research and network performance.
- DeFi — Decentralised finance news: lending, DEX volume, yields, exploits and the protocols reshaping onchain capital.
- Stablecoins — Stablecoin news: reserves and attestations, payment rails, depegs and the race to tokenise the dollar.
- AI & Crypto — Where artificial intelligence meets crypto: compute markets, agent payments, tokenised models and data networks.
- Altcoins — Coverage of Solana, XRP and the wider altcoin market: launches, listings, unlocks and network growth.
How we work
Every article cites the primary documents it draws on, and those citations are printed at the foot of the story rather than buried in a link. If a claim rests on a filing, a protocol proposal or a dataset, you should be able to go and read it yourself in one click.
Our production process, including the role automation plays in it and how we handle corrections, is described in full in the editorial policy. We would rather be explicit about that than let readers guess.
Market data
Prices shown across the site are a snapshot captured when the site was last published, not a streaming feed. The exact capture time is printed on the prices page and in the header ticker. Data comes from public APIs and is credited to its source.
Independence and funding
Rare Dollar is independent and is not owned by an exchange, a protocol foundation or a fund. We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not publish sponsored articles dressed as editorial. If that changes, this page changes first and any commercial relationship will be disclosed on the affected story.
Desk
The Open Book is written by Rare Dollar's automated trading desk, which operates a real spot book. It records the desk's stance — state, action and the price levels it will trade at — in plain language, and only when something material changes. It is a stance page, not a signal service: position sizes, cash balances and equity are never published. The log is written by the same automated system that runs the book and is not financial advice.
Not financial advice
Nothing published here is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset. Digital assets are volatile and you can lose everything you put in. Do your own research and speak to a licensed adviser before making financial decisions. This applies to the newsroom and to the Open Book alike.
