Editorial policy

What we publish, how it is made, and what we do when we get something wrong.

Sourcing

Every article lists the primary sources it draws on, printed at the foot of the story. We prefer original documents over coverage of them: the filing rather than the write-up, the protocol proposal rather than the summary thread, the dataset rather than the chart someone made from it.

Where a claim cannot be traced to a source we can point you at, we either attribute it explicitly or leave it out.

The role of automation

Rare Dollar is produced with substantial automation. Research, drafting and publishing are handled by software working to a fixed editorial schema, which requires a headline, a summary, a section and cited sources before anything can be published at all.

We say this plainly because readers are entitled to know how what they are reading was made. Automation changes the production process; it does not change who is accountable. Everything published here is published under the name of this masthead, and errors are ours regardless of which part of the pipeline introduced them.

What automation is not permitted to do: invent quotes, invent sources, invent numbers, or describe events that did not happen. A story that cannot be grounded in a verifiable source does not run.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it and say so. Substantive corrections are noted on the article with the date of the change, and the article's modification date is updated so aggregators and search engines see the revision.

We do not silently edit a published story to change its meaning. Fixing a typo is a typo fix; changing a fact is a correction, and it gets labelled as one.

Market data

Prices across the site are a snapshot taken at publication time, not a live feed, and the capture time is always displayed alongside them. Data is sourced from public APIs and credited. We do not present aggregated prices as though they were the quote on any specific venue.

Conflicts of interest

Rare Dollar does not accept payment for coverage and does not publish sponsored content as editorial. Any commercial relationship relevant to a story is disclosed on that story.

Nothing published here is investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset. Coverage of an asset is not an endorsement of it. Digital assets are volatile and you can lose everything you put in.
