Spot ethereum exchange-traded funds recorded $697.2 million of net inflows in the five sessions through August 21, their strongest weekly intake since early October 2025, according to SoSoValue data cited by CryptoSlate.
The ether funds moved in step with bitcoin, whose own ETFs took in $1.92 billion over the same window. The combined $2.6 billion intake for the two groups was the strongest since October 2025, when bitcoin traded near its record high.
A rotation back into ether exposure
Ether ETFs spent most of 2026 in the same position as their bitcoin counterparts: persistent outflows through the spring, with June the weakest month on record. The August reversal marks the first sustained inflow streak of the year for the ether funds.
Why the pair matters
Ether’s flows are watched closely because the asset has historically traded with higher beta than bitcoin. When institutional demand returns, ether exposure tends to amplify moves in either direction. The flow prints are settled after the fact, however, and reflect purchases that have already reached the market rather than a forecast of demand to come.
