US spot ethereum exchange-traded funds recorded $1.42 billion of net inflows over nine consecutive trading sessions from August 17 through August 28, 2026, according to data reported by Crypto.news. The run ended with the strongest single day in ten months: $225.8 million on August 28.

The nine-day streak is the first sustained institutional buying of the year for the ether funds, which spent the spring bleeding outflows alongside their bitcoin counterparts.

BlackRock leads again

BlackRock’s ether fund, ETHA, has been the engine of the run. It contributed $90.92 million of the $116 million the group took in on August 24, per data compiled by 99Bitcoins. As with bitcoin, the largest issuer is absorbing most of the demand.

Catching up to bitcoin

The notable detail is how close the ether funds came to matching their bigger sibling. Bitcoin ETFs took in $242.3 million on the same August 28 session — just $16.5 million more than the ether group, per Altcoin Buzz. On August 27 the two categories were nearly even, with $242 million for bitcoin and $235 million for ether.

The narrowing gap matters because ether funds have historically trailed bitcoin products by a wide margin. Even after the run, ether’s cumulative intake remains a fraction of bitcoin’s, and ether itself has underperformed several major altcoins during the rebound, trading near $2,477 on August 28 after a roughly 5% weekly gain.

What the flows do not tell you

ETF flows describe where settled capital went, not why, and they say nothing about what ether’s price already discounted. The same week that institutions bought ether funds, spot ether lagged the likes of XRP and Solana — evidence that fund demand and price leadership can diverge for long stretches.

The takeaway

Nine days of inflows rebuilt a market narrative that had been broken since June. Whether ether funds can sustain the pace depends on factors flow tables do not measure: fee competition, macro conditions, and whether the rotation into ether exposure continues once the streak inevitably breaks.
